Christina Ansel's Catio Pond (Large) - Saturday & Sunday
View PondPond Description
Welcome to the Catsle. This is my larger preformed pond located within a Catio (Outdoor Cat Enclosure). It's a paradise for my 5 indoor cats. They just let me enjoy it from time to time. ;) It sits under a 12 x 42 ft Deck with mostly shade all day (Enclosed with 1 in by 1 in 14-gauge PVC-coated galvanized steel fencing). Due to the shade and most plants being toxic to cats, it has no live plants other than natural producing algae. It does, however, have several artificial plants for decor. It has a pump, pressure filter, heaters (So I run it all year long), waterfall, spitter, aeration, lights, fish tower, Goldfish (Water Piggies) and 2 Pleco (Most of the fish are rescues). This pond flows from a 5-gallon resin waterfall, into an 8-gallon preform, to a 165-gallon preform with a spitter, to a 100 gallon preform. This pond was installed by me in late September 2022. It's small but definitely not shy of being a little paradise.
Please enter through the rear fence gate on the left side of the house.

Built in 2023, our koi pond has been our sanctuary—a place of tranquility, quiet, and peaceful reflection. Every stone, every waterfall, and every detail was 100% built by us with our own hands. It is the result of countless hours of hard work, dedication, and a dream we refused to give up on. What began as a vision has become our dream come true: a serene, Zen-inspired oasis where the gentle sound of flowing water and the graceful movement of our koi bring a sense of calm to our hearts. This pond isn’t just a backyard feature; it’s a labor of love, a testament to perseverance, and a place where peace and nature come together in perfect harmony.
Please enter the backyard from the left side of the house.

Sherry and Dave’s Backyard Oasis - Saturday & Sunday
View PondPond Description
We bought our home in 2018. I loved the backyard with all the trees, but it had one big problem area: it was a pond that had been filled in with dirt and rocks.
So the labor of love began.
We spent the first summer digging it out, sorting out rocks, dirt, very old barley bales, and lots of stinky stuff. The next summer was spent filling it with water only to find that it leaked like a sieve. We replaced the liner and reworked the whole pond. My hubby wanted a stream, so he removed bushes and did a lot of digging to create a lovely stream for flowers and birds to bathe. We researched filtration options and learned a lot about what not to do. YouTube was extremely helpful. It’s now a mature pond with shade trees and flowers. A sanctuary for many creatures, especially me. I never knew I would love it this much. We now have 5 koi and a rescued fancy goldfish (Robert) who was living in a 20-gallon aquarium and was very depressed. He loves his koi siblings. There is only one thing I don’t like about my oasis: fall comes way too fast, the leaves fall, the netting goes up, winter comes, and I start planning for spring. Every year it gets better and more beautiful and more peaceful; it’s just perfect. 💕

Richard and Kristy Hooper’s Pond - Saturday & Sunday
View PondPond Description
Our pond is enhanced by a charming waterfall that gently cascades into the water below. Constructed from striking black granite and complemented by large river rock boulders, the waterfall creates a natural focal point within the landscape. Colorful flowers surround the pond, softening the stonework and adding seasonal beauty.
Last year, we introduced our first koi, and more recently we were fortunate to add two additional fish that we won at the club auction. They settled into their new home almost immediately, quickly joining the existing koi as if they had always belonged.
The soothing sound of the waterfall, combined with the graceful movement of the koi, has transformed our pond into a peaceful retreat that we enjoy every day.

Pete & Heidi Meinig's Pond - Sunday Only

Welcome to our little backyard oasis!
We're relatively new to the world of koi keeping, but what started as a surprise feature of our home has quickly become one of our favorite passions. When we moved from Denver to Colorado Springs in the spring of 2025, the pond came with the house. To test the waters (literally!), we started with four hardy goldfish—the legendary OGs (Original Goldfish)—to make sure everything was healthy and thriving.
Fast forward to today, and our underwater neighborhood has exploded into a vibrant community of the four OGs plus 13 beautiful koi in a stunning variety of colors, patterns, and sizes.
Nestled beneath the shade of a sprawling tree, the pond offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle. A winding path circles the water, giving visitors multiple vantage points to admire the koi, spot their favorite fish, and enjoy the tranquil sounds of the waterfall.

A new pond was installed late 2025 behind our house using EPDM liner up to 4.5 ft deep surrounded by big boulders and covered with small pebbles placed on 'Gatorboard' to protect the liner from deer. A 10,000 GPH pump was installed to power a waterfall, fed upstream by the water outlet located about 100 ft uphill after passing through a filter system. The pond has two fish caves . String algae are controlled by Barley extract and single cell algae controlled by an in-line UV system running 24/7 by a separate pump. Two airators are running 24/7. A total of 21 pods are installed at different depths with plants, including two with Lotus plants. An additional 7 floating nets are present with plants. The pond is solar heated with 2,400 feet of black PVC irrigation tubing fed by a pump. Typically the temp goes from 69 deg F to 77 deg F each day in the Summer. Steps into the pond allow for entry and wading. Typically no detectable ammonia and pH of about 8.
A second 1,500 gallon pond is present with its own filter/UV system to grow more Lotus and as a future place for western painted turtles and quarantine when needed.
Both ponds are fed by water from a well and each day some of its water is used for irrigation and replaced by well water.
The fish population is 4 gold fish and 10 Koi from 4 to 10 inches. Recently we observed about 4 very small fish as offspring. Several fake Heron's are in place to deter predation, in addition to a motion-activated sprinkler.
Please walk around the East (Left) side of the house to view the pond in the backyard.
